Description

The Intellectual Disability Kit–4 is an advanced early intervention and pre-vocational Teaching–Learning Material (TLM) kit designed for adolescents aged 12–15 years and 16–18 years. This kit focuses on functional academics, vocational readiness, community awareness, money handling, numeracy, literacy, and independent living skills, enabling learners to transition toward adulthood with confidence and dignity.

To build community awareness and social understanding, the kit includes Community Helpers flash cards and India General game materials, helping students recognise real-life roles such as doctors, police, drivers, electricians, farmers, and service workers. These materials support social participation, workplace familiarity, and basic civic knowledge. General Knowledge flashcards further introduce practical life activities like cooking, gardening, ironing, packing, and carpentry.

Functional literacy and language development are strengthened using wooden alphabet blocks, alphabet–word wooden cubes, story books, NCERT Class 2 & Class 3 books, and NIEPID publications. These resources promote word formation, reading comprehension, sentence building, and contextual learning aligned with everyday communication needs. Story books with pictorial content improve moral reasoning, attention span, and expressive language.

The kit strongly emphasizes functional numeracy and money concepts through number tiles, number cubes, calculator, digital watch, multiplication tactile board kit, and duplicate Indian currency. Learners practice counting, arithmetic operations, time management, measurement, and real-world money handling—skills essential for independent living, shopping, and vocational tasks.

For pre-vocational and motor skill development, the kit provides needle work kit, fitting & assembling kit (170 pcs), measuring sets (tape, cups, weighing scale, height scale), and hands-on construction materials. These activities enhance fine motor coordination, bilateral hand use, problem-solving, tool handling, sequencing, and task completion—key competencies for sheltered workshops, skill training programs, and supported employment.

The inclusion of a basic smartphone introduces learners to digital literacy, communication, and safe technology use, while the calculator and digital watch reinforce practical numeracy and time awareness. All materials are non-toxic, durable, age-appropriate, and suitable for repeated classroom, vocational lab, and home use.

The kit is supplied in a rain/waterproof trolley-style kit bag for easy mobility and organized storage. A laminated A4 user manual with item-wise descriptions and coloured visuals ensures consistent, goal-oriented implementation by special educators, vocational trainers, therapists, and caregivers.
